Healey Cottage is out at Thunder Bridge, near Shelley village. It's semi-detached, and we live next door. The place sleeps two, one bedroom with an en suite bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well finished and everything works as it should.
You've got a wood burning stove. It heats the whole place well. The layout is open plan downstairs. The stairs are okay, but we fitted a stairgate at the top just in case.
It's right on the Trans-Pennine Trail. You can walk or cycle for miles straight from the door without using the car. There's a pub about half a mile away that does food and is dog friendly. We can give you directions.
You're on the edge of the Pennines here. Holmfirth is about 20 minutes by car. Huddersfield is about the same. For a day out, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is very good, and it's about a 20 minute drive. So is the National Coal Mining Museum.
Further afield, you can get into the Peak District proper within about half an hour. Leeds city centre is about 40 minutes if you need shops or the Royal Armouries. Manchester is just over an hour.
Facilities: there's parking right outside, a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome. We leave a dog bed and bowls.
