The Cow Shack
The Cow Shack is in Upham, near Pennymoor. It's a single storey place built into a hillside, so you walk in on the ground floor and the bedroom's downstairs. It's on its own here, no one next door. You can see fields with cows and sheep from the front. It's very quiet.
It sleeps four but there's only one bedroom. That bedroom has a super king-size bed that can be split into two singles. Then there's a day bed in the little area outside the bedroom, which is a double. So it's really best for two adults using the main bed, or a couple with two kids.
The place has a 4 Star rating. It's modern inside, well looked after. The shower is a walk-in one. Everything in the kitchen works. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine.
The nearest pub that does food is about a ten minute drive away, in Black Dog. It's decent. For a proper shop, you need Tiverton. That's about a fifteen minute drive. They've got supermarkets and the usual town things.
You're right in the middle of Devon here. It's about fifty minutes drive north to somewhere like Exmoor or the surf beaches. It's about an hour south to Dartmoor or the start of the South Devon coast. So you can do a day out either way.
For local walks, the Tarka Trail is accessible. If you're going to the coast, the National Trust or Dartmoor National Park sites are useful for planning.
Facilities: all the bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi. One well-behaved dog is allowed. Parking is right outside.
