This is Kingfisher Lodge at East Dunster Deer Farm in Cadeleigh. It's a converted barn on our farm. You're on a 40-acre deer farm with a few other holiday barns, but each one is detached and well spaced out, about 100 yards apart. You get your own garden. It looks out over the ponds and the fields.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's a 5 Star place, so it's well-finished. Underfloor heating, that sort of thing. The kitchen is open plan with big bi-fold doors that open right up. There's a private hot tub on the patio.
We're on an unmade track, so the last bit of the drive is gravel. It's fine for normal cars, just take it slow.
You'll see the red deer around the fields, sometimes right up close. The stags are something else. We've seen otters in the ponds too. The ponds aren't fenced, but your garden is, so there's a boundary. Just something to be aware of if you have small children or dogs.
You can bring two dogs. The garden is fenced, but it's not totally escape-proof for a very determined dog, so keep an eye on them.
There's a pub about half a mile away that does food. The village shop is in Bickleigh, about a six minute drive. For a bigger shop, Tiverton is six miles away. Exeter is about nine miles, which is good for a day out or if you need anything major.
Bickleigh Mill is nearby. It's nice for a walk along the river, and there's a little toy railway for kids. For a longer walk, you can get up onto Exmoor within half an hour. The north Devon coast, with places like Woolacombe, is about a 45 minute drive.
In terms of what's here, it's all included. Washing machine, dishwasher, towels, bedding. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Plenty of parking right outside.
