Heatherlea is in Otterburn village. It's detached, up a quiet lane. We've just had it refurbished so it's fresh and clean inside.
It sleeps seven in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, which is handy. The other two are upstairs, but the layout is a bit unusual. There are steps up to the main bedroom and steps down to the other one. Just mind your head.
There's an open fire in the lounge. The kitchen leads into a sun room, which looks out over the garden and the fields. It's a good spot.
You can bring one dog. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. The garden is enclosed. We've got a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them.
The village has a pub. It's a short walk. For proper shopping, you'd drive to Bellingham or Hexham.
You're right on the edge of Kielder Water and Forest Park. It's about a twenty minute drive. Good for walking and cycling. The Northumberland National Park is all around you. The National Park website has walking routes. Hadrian's Wall is about half an hour away. English Heritage looks after the main forts.
It's a 4 Star place. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's not a palace, but it's a good solid base.
