Reiver's Rest is a lodge in Otterburn. It's detached and sits at the top corner of the park, backed by woodland. We renovated it in 2018. It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms, and there are two bathrooms.
The decking is raised and south-facing. It has a hot tub. The layout is open plan inside.
The site has its own restaurant, which is good for an easy meal. The village centre is about three quarters of a mile away. There's a local shop and a pub there.
You're right on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. You can walk straight into it from the door. It's also in a Dark Sky Park, so if it's a clear night, the stars are very good. For more official information, the Northumberland National Park site is useful.
Within about half an hour, you can get to Kielder Water and Forest. Hadrian's Wall is a short drive away, with all the Roman forts. The market town of Hexham is within that range too. If you go a bit further, you can reach the coast and Alnwick Castle.
The facilities are what you'd expect: washing machine, dishwasher, TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one well-behaved dog. There's parking right by the lodge. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them.
It's a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's not a five-star hotel, but it's a solid base for a group. It works well for families or if you're attending a wedding at one of the big venues nearby.
