Blue House Cottage

Blue House Cottage is in Elsdon, right in the middle of the village. It's attached to the pub, which is handy but you can hear it sometimes in the evenings. That's just how it is with these old buildings. The front looks out over the village green, which is massive. They say it's one of the biggest in England.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. The ceilings are beamed, which means if you're tall you need to watch your head in a couple of spots. The floors are original pine. There's a woodburning stove for the colder nights.

You've got a small enclosed garden at the back. There's bike storage if you need it. All bedding and towels are included, and there's a washing machine and WiFi.

You can bring one dog. Please just keep them off the furniture.

The village itself is quiet. There's a 13th century church and an old pele tower. The nearest shop is about four miles away in Otterburn, so you need to come prepared. The pub next door does food.

For getting out, you're right in the Northumberland National Park. Hadrian's Wall is about a 25 minute drive. So is Kielder Water. The Northumberland coast, like Alnmouth or Craster, is maybe half an hour. Alnwick Castle and Gardens is about the same.
