An Daroch

An Daroch is in Bullwood, a few minutes south of Dunoon on the Cowal peninsula. It's a detached cottage, so you won't have any neighbours on the other side of the wall. It's perched above the shore, so you get sea views from several rooms.

It sleeps six in three bedrooms. There's a double with its own shower room, a twin bedroom at the front with the best sea views, and a king-size at the back. There's also a main bathroom with a shower over the bath. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-renovated and comfortable.

The living room has patio doors that open straight out onto a patio area, handy for eating outside. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. The garden is enclosed and has a small, fenced wildlife pond to one side, so you'll want to keep an eye on young children. There's an outside tap and an electric car charging point.

Dunoon is the nearest town, about a mile and a half away. It's got the basics: pubs, restaurants, a cinema, a swimming pool. There are two ferry terminals there for crossings to Gourock, which is the main route to the central belt.

You're right on the edge of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The walking is the main thing here. The Arrochar Alps to the north have some serious hills. For something less steep, the Cowal Way is on the doorstep.

Other things nearby: Benmore Botanic Gardens is lovely, about a 15-minute drive along Loch Eck. Kilbride Bay has a good sandy beach, about a 10-minute drive. There are three golf courses in the area if that's your thing. The marina in Dunoon is a base for sailing. You can fish in the Firth of Clyde, or get permits for some local rivers and lochs.

The property allows up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included. There's on-site parking.
