The Old Nunnery is in Skelmorlie, right on the water's edge. It's a semi-detached property, part of an old converted nunnery. It sleeps up to 24 people, which sounds like a lot because it is. There are nine bedrooms and five bathrooms.
It's got a 4 Star rating. The place is spacious, not luxurious, but it's well-equipped for a big group. One of the living rooms faces the sea and has good views. The dining room has a big table that seats everyone.
For the facilities, it has two private hot tubs, each fitting six people. There's also a wood-burning sauna, an infra-red sauna, and a steam room. They're all there for you to use.
Outside, there's a garden and patio area with a BBQ. Parking is on site. It's pet-friendly, up to three dogs. Bedding and towels are included. You'll also find a cot and highchair if needed, plus the usual things like a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and TVs.
The shore is about a hundred yards away. There's a shop 500 yards up the road and a pub at 600 yards. For a restaurant, you're looking at about six miles.
Location-wise, it's good for getting out. The Ayrshire Coastal Path starts here in Skelmorlie. Largs is a short drive away for shops and a proper promenade. You can get ferries from there over to the Isle of Cumbrae, or further to Arran and Bute.
Within about half an hour's drive, you've got a lot. Culzean Castle and its country park are nearby. There's golf, including Turnberry. Inland, there's walking and cycling. If you fancy a city day, both Glasgow and Edinburgh are reachable, though Edinburgh is a bit further.
For very large groups, we also have The Wee Nunnery next door. Booking both together can sleep up to 40.
