Strathclyde Cottage North is in Skelmorlie, on the Ayrshire coast. It's detached, so no neighbours on the other side of the wall. You're right on the main road through the village, which is handy for getting about, but it is a road. The view from the front is straight out over the Firth of Clyde.
It's a one-bedroom cottage, but it sleeps four. There's a double bed and a sofa bed in the living space. One bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's open plan downstairs, so the kitchen, dining and sitting area are all in one room. There's a patio garden out the back.
There's a restaurant practically next door, about fifty metres away. For other options, it's about a fifteen minute walk. You'll find cafes, takeaways, and a dog-friendly pub cafe in the Wemyss Bay train station building. That's also the ferry terminal for Rothesay on Bute. There's another village pub in Skelmorlie itself that's okay for kids and dogs, but it's a bit of a walk up the hill.
The Ayrshire Coastal Path starts here in Skelmorlie if you like walking. Largs is a short drive away for shops and a proper seafront. You can get ferries from Wemyss Bay over to the Isle of Bute, or from Largs to Great Cumbrae. Arran is a bit further down the coast from Ardrossan.
For days out, Culzean Castle and its country park are well worth the trip. Dumfries House is inland, near Cumnock. If you want to go further, the train from Wemyss Bay goes straight into Glasgow. Edinburgh is doable for a day trip too. Loch Lomond is about an hour's drive if you go via the ferry from Dunoon.
Facilities: it's got parking, WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. Electricity is part of the cost. You can bring up to two dogs.
