Strathisla is an apartment near Largs. It's part of a converted stable block. The main Victorian house is about 200 yards up the drive.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean but don't expect anything posh. The stairs inside are fine.
You can use the 15 acres of grounds around the main house. There's a lawned area outside your door that's surrounded by woodland. The views look out over the Firth of Clyde to the hills and islands.
For things to do, Largs is two miles away. It's a proper seaside town with shops, a supermarket, and pubs. The famous 'Waverley' paddle steamer sails from there in season. There's a leisure centre with a pool and theatre, and the Kelburn Country Centre isn't far.
You can get ferries from Largs to Great Cumbrae Island. Millport is over there and it's good for a day out. If you drive a bit further, you can get ferries from Wemyss Bay to the Isle of Bute, or from Ardrossan to Arran. Arran has a lot of walking, including Goatfell.
Back on the mainland, the area is good for golf, fishing, and walking. There are nature trails nearby. The nearest pub is about two and a half miles away.
Glasgow, Loch Lomond, and the Burns heritage stuff around Ayr are all within an hour's drive. Edinburgh is a bit further.
For facilities, you've got a patio garden, on-site parking, and the basics like a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
