Tamarchan Lodge

Tamarchan Lodge is in Ballachulish. It's a detached house up a private road, about a ten-minute walk from the village. The view from the front is straight down the loch towards the mountains.

It sleeps nine people in five bedrooms. There are three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The stairs are open-tread and a bit steeper than you'd get in a new house. Something to know if you've got unsteady knees or very small children.

Downstairs is all one big living space, kitchen at one end, sofas at the other. It works for a group. The doors open onto decking so you can sit outside. The garden is big and slopes down. There's a barbecue there.

Ballachulish village has a co-op supermarket, a couple of places to eat, and a tourist info spot. For a proper shop, Fort William is about twenty minutes up the road.

You're right on the edge of Glencoe. It's a five-minute drive to the Glencoe Visitor Centre for the walks and the history. Glencoe Trust has good information. For skiing or the mountain gondola, Glencoe Mountain Resort is about fifteen minutes away.

Fort William is maybe twenty-five minutes. That's where you get the steam train to Mallaig from. Oban is about forty-five minutes south if you want to get a ferry to the islands. The beach it mentions is probably at Glencoe, but it's stony. For sand, you'd drive to places like Arisaig.

Facilities: it's got the washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking for three cars on the drive. No pets, sorry.
