Taigh Seonaig

This is Taigh Seonaig, our place in Glencoe. It's a detached house, so no neighbours on either side, which is nice. It sits at the end of a quiet lane in the village proper, looking out over the fields towards the hills.

It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. It has a 4 Star rating. It’s comfortable and modern inside, not old-fashioned. Everything is on one level, so no stairs inside to worry about.

The front garden is enclosed. There’s a gate, so it’s secure. Over the road, you can get down to the River Coe. It’s a bit of a slope, but you get used to it. Loch Leven is a few minutes' walk for a proper view.

In the village there's a small shop, a cafe for coffee, and a hotel with a bar and restaurant. The pub is about half a mile away.

You can see why they film movies here. The scenery is just there. Fort William is about twenty minutes up the road. They call it the outdoor capital, and you can get the steam train from there, the one that goes over the Glenfinnan viaduct you see in pictures.

Oban is about an hour south. That's where you get the ferries to the islands like Mull. If you head the other way, you can get the Corran ferry across and drive out to Ardnamurchan, which is the most westerly point. Mallaig and the ferry to Skye is about an hour away.

For walking or climbing, you’re right in it. Glencoe ski centre is close by for winter. There’s fishing, kayaking on the loch, or just easy forest walks if you’re not after anything big.

The house has a washing machine and dishwasher. Towels and bedding are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside. It's all on the ground floor, so the entrance and doorways are wheelchair accessible. Sorry, no pets.
