Tigh Ban is our place in Glencoe. It's a detached bungalow, so everything's on one level which is handy. It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is about right. It's comfortable and has what you need.
The setting is the main thing. It's very quiet. You look out over the fields to Loch Leven and the mountains. The Pap of Glencoe is right behind you. You can sit out in the garden with a coffee and just watch the weather come and go.
For facilities, it's all there: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, a wood burning stove for the evenings. There's parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and highchair if you need them. There's a BBQ and bike storage too. No pets, I'm afraid.
You're about half a mile from the village. There's a shop about 300 yards away for basics, and a pub and restaurant within walking distance. For a big shop, you can get supermarket deliveries.
If you're here to be outdoors, you're in the right spot. You can walk straight out the door onto the hills. Glencoe Mountain Resort is close for skiing or the chairlift in summer. Fort William is about 20 minutes down the road for more shops or the start of the Ben Nevis path. You can hire kayaks on the loch, or drive to one of the beaches on the west coast. The drive to Arisaig is beautiful.
For a day out, you can catch the steam train from Fort William to Mallaig, over the Glenfinnan viaduct. Boat trips to Mull go from Oban, which is less than an hour away. If you want to go further, you can drive to Skye or up to Loch Ness in a couple of hours.
