Hillsmore Cottage has been lovingly renovated to highest standard, exuding character, and peacefulness by nature. It sits pretty within Arlingham, a picturesque village on a horseshoe bend on the River Severn, Gloucestershire. Those seeking a slightly greener and ‘eco-friendly’ stay will be pleased to know that this warm and cosy haven is powered by Solar – the hot water runs directly off this, using heat storage to maximise electrical output during sunny spells.
Sleeping four guests, this spacious and superior cottage has paid attention to the finer detail throughout. On the ground floor, there is a large entrance hall, a large and convenient wet room shower. A cosy living room that boasts an everhot heater, a lovely addition on those chillier evenings. Also on the ground floor is a country kitchen and boot-room with doors that lead onto the garden. On the first floor, you will find the sleeping quarters and main bathroom; both are simply divine. Both bedroom suites feature sumptuous superking beds adorned with the finest linens and the main deluxe bathroom includes a walk-in rainfall shower and an inviting freestanding roll-top tub. A large landing with seating offers another great spot spot to relax with a good book, with elevated views of the countryside beyond. Outside there is a generous sized garden that’s perfectly for both children and pets.
Just beyond your lovely abode there is an abundance of wonderful walks to be enjoyed, starting right on your doorstep. The cottage has been thoughtfully stocked with an abundance of OS Maps of the nearby River Bend, as well as areas further afield such as the nearby Cotswold. So be sure to ditch the stilettos and fancy brogues for some Gilets and wellington boots. A walking route that is a firm favourite with the locals and visitors alike is The Severn Way, which follows the close by river the entire way around the Peninsula, it starts at the local pub, which is great for a pre-walk shandy. Depending on when you visit, The Severn Bore flows upstream with every tide, and at certain times these waters can be surfed all the way to Gloucester, if you can stand that far! The village has two pubs that serving wonderful food too. They both have beer gardens which is fabulous on sunny days, pooches are welcome too, and can be reached within a two-mile country jaunt. Pub within 1 mile.
