Old Orchard Barn - The Annexe
This is Old Orchard Barn. It's an annexe to the main house, here in Buckland St Mary. It's just for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's a nice, clean conversion. The living area is open plan, but the kitchen is up a small step. The windows are big and look out over the fields.
Outside, there's a private bit of garden with a table and chairs. You also get use of a private outdoor swimming pool from 10am until 4pm. There's a shared tennis court, but you need to bring your own rackets and shoes.
The stairs inside are fine. There's one step up into the kitchen area and the shower tray has a bit of a lip to step over. Just so you know.
You can bring two dogs. There's an enclosed garden bit.
It's very quiet here. There's a pub less than half a mile walk away, and an Italian restaurant about the same distance in the other direction. The nearest proper shop is in Chard, about five miles.
For days out, you're in the Blackdown Hills. Good walking from the door. Taunton's about a 20-minute drive for shops. The coast at Lyme Regis is about 40 minutes. Exmoor is maybe half an hour. There are some National Trust places close by like Barrington Court.
