This is Oak Apple Cottage. It's our place on the Blackdown Hills. It's detached, sits in the grounds of our house, but you're completely private.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a four star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. There's a wood burner for chilly evenings. The main thing is the quiet. You get a little gravelled courtyard off the kitchen and then some steps down to a small private garden. The view from there is just fields and trees.
There is one thing you should know. The stairs to the bedroom are a cottage spiral staircase. They're steep and narrow. Just something to be aware of.
The village of Upottery is about a mile away. There's a shop half a mile down the lane and a pub in the village. You're surrounded by footpaths straight onto the Blackdown Hills from the door.
For a day out, Honiton is about fifteen minutes by car. That's where the antique shops are. The coast at places like Beer or Seaton is probably forty minutes. Dartmoor is about an hour's drive. Exeter is roughly forty minutes.
It's a good spot if you like walking or just want somewhere very quiet. We allow one well-behaved dog. You'll have parking right outside the cottage.
