Old Highwood - Hog End is in Dunkeswell, up in the Blackdown Hills. It's a converted end-terrace barn on our farm. The views are good. You look out over fields to some woodland.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathroom. The beds are super king-size but you can split them into twins if you need to. One room has a small Juliet balcony. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's well put together and clean.
The stairs are a standard flight, not a cottage ladder. The living area is all open plan: kitchen, dining table, sofa. Everything's new. There's a dishwasher.
The garden gets the sun. There's a patio, some grass, and a six-person hot tub. We've got chickens wandering about. We can leave you some eggs and jam when you arrive if you ask.
You'll hear owls at night. Sometimes you see deer in the fields. It's a proper dark sky spot. We leave a telescope in the cottage if you fancy a look.
Dunkeswell village is five minutes by car. There's a shop, an Indian restaurant, a bar, and a fish and chip shop. The airfield there does skydives if that's your thing. Honiton's about ten minutes away for bigger shops and more places to eat.
The coast is about half an hour's drive. Beer and Branscombe are quiet. Sidmouth and Seaton are busier. Exmouth has a long sandy beach.
For local attractions, there's The Donkey Sanctuary, Yarak Birds of Prey, and Crealy theme park. Good walking on the Blackdown Hills tracks right from the door.
Facilities: parking right there, wifi included, TV, washing machine, cot and highchair available. Bedding and towels are provided. No pets, sorry.
