This is Dairy House Farm. It's our place in Bickenhall. It's basically one wing of the farmhouse we live in. The house is about 250 years old, so the walls are thick and the floors are a bit uneven in places. It's just how it is.
It's for four people. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after. The main thing you'll notice is the big fireplace in the living room. It's an inglenook with a woodburner in it. There's even the old bread oven still there in the wall. It's very cosy in the winter.
You get your own enclosed garden. It's walled, so it's private. There's a barbecue out there. We're on a farm, so the view from the garden is just fields. It's very quiet.
The facilities are all there. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. We've got a cot, highchair and stairgate if you need them. All the bedding and towels are included. You can park right outside.
We're down a track, so you're properly in the countryside. The nearest shop is about two miles away in Curry Rivel. There's a decent pub that does food about a mile and a half away. We keep horses, and there's a livery yard next door if you wanted to bring your own horse on holiday. Stabling can be arranged.
For things to do, you're in a good spot. You can walk straight out from the door. Taunton is about 15 minutes' drive one way, Ilminster about 10 minutes the other. The National Trust's Barrington Court is very close. So is Montacute House. The coast, like Lyme Regis, is about 45 minutes to an hour. Exmoor and the Quantocks are within half an hour for walking. If you want a proper day out, Bath is under an hour's drive.
You can bring dogs. Up to three. They need to be under control because of the farm animals, but the enclosed garden is good for them.
