Poppy Cottage is in West Ashby, in the Lincolnshire Wolds. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's properly finished and everything is included. Sleeps six, three bedrooms, two bathrooms.
The layout is upside down compared to most houses. All the living space – the kitchen, lounge, dining area – is on the first floor to make the most of the views. The bedrooms and bathrooms are on the ground floor. The views are good. They're over fields and wolds. You can see for miles.
There's an undercover hot tub in the private garden. It has a wall heater so you can use it in any weather. You can sometimes hear the animals from the Wolds Wildlife Park when the wind's right. It's just a background noise.
Everything is provided. Robes, slippers, towels, decent toiletries. There's a welcome pack when you arrive. All bedrooms have large smart TVs with Netflix. There's WiFi, a dishwasher, washing machine, that sort of thing. Parking is on site behind a gated entrance.
The village pub is about 250 yards away. They do food. Shops are a mile or so off in Horncastle. Horncastle is known for antiques and has a weekly market.
You're in the Wolds so there's walking and cycling right from the door. The coast is about half an hour's drive. Places like Skegness or Mablethorpe. Lincoln is a good day out, about 40 minutes. The cathedral and castle are worth seeing. For something different, Cadwell Park racing circuit is ten minutes away.
