Brook House Farm Cottage is here on our farm in Scamblesby. It's a barn conversion, dates from 1791 but was done up about fifteen years ago. It's all on the ground floor.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, more practical than luxurious. The doors are wide enough and there's no step into the cottage, so it's suitable if you have mobility issues or use a wheelchair.
You get your own enclosed garden. It's just gravel and a bit of grass, but it's private and safe for dogs. We allow up to two pets. We've got horses here on the farm, so you'll see them about.
You can walk straight out from the cottage into the Lincolnshire Wolds. It's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The footpaths aren't always well signposted, so an OS map is a good idea. Cadwell Park race circuit is just down the road, about a mile away. You can hear the bikes on race days. It's part of the atmosphere.
The market towns of Louth and Horncastle are about seven miles either way. They've got the usual shops. Horncastle has a lot of antique shops if that's your thing. Decent pubs and places to eat are around three miles away.
If you fancy the coast, it's about half an hour's drive to places like Sutton on Sea or Mablethorpe. Long, flat sandy beaches. Skegness is a bit further on.
Lincoln is also about thirty minutes by car. The cathedral and castle are the big draws. The Brayford Wharf area has restaurants and bars by the water.
Facilities: it's got WiFi, a TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside. It's available over Christmas, we put a tree up.
