Neuadd Las is a big old house just outside Tregaron. It used to be a guest house. It sleeps seventeen, so it's really for groups or family get-togethers.
You've got ten bedrooms and eight bathrooms. That means you're not queueing in the morning. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and well equipped, but it's not a hotel. It feels like a big, practical family house.
The main thing is the view. You look right out over the Cors Caron bog, which is a nature reserve, and across to the mountains. It's very quiet. You get the fishing rights for the River Teifi, which is good for salmon.
There's a games room. A big garden with a patio and a BBQ. Parking for several cars and a place to put bikes. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need one. Sorry, no pets.
For getting out, you're on the edge of Cors Caron. The Wales Coast Path isn't far. The Ystwyth Trail goes from Tregaron to Aberystwyth, right past the house, so it's perfect for walking or cycling.
Tregaron is under two miles away. It's a little market town with shops, a couple of pubs, and places to eat.
You can drive to Strata Florida Abbey in about fifteen minutes. It's ruins, but impressive ones. Aberystwyth is about half an hour. It's got the sea, the castle, and the narrow gauge railway. Aberaeron, with the coloured houses around the harbour, is about the same.
If you're after a day out, The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth is worth the drive. So is the coast around Aberystwyth. For local walks and information, Bannau Brycheiniog National Park covers this area.
