Bwthyn Derwen

Bwthyn Derwen is a barn conversion on our working farm near Pontrhydfendigaid. It's one of three, built next to each other. They can be booked together, as there are connecting doors inside. Or you can just have the one, which is what most people do. You get your own garden and a private hot tub.

It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms and each one has its own bathroom, which is handy. The main space is open plan with a wood burner. It's been done to a high standard, which is what the 5 Star rating is for. It's warm and clean.

Being a farm, you'll see sheep. It's not noisy, just normal farm life. We have 140 acres here. The Ystwyth Cycle Trail runs right from the farm gate, which is good if you've brought bikes.

The nearest shop and pub are about a mile away in Pontrhydfendigaid. Tregaron is a few miles further. It's a small Welsh market town. They have a co-op, cafes, and the Rhiannon Welsh Gold Centre is there if you're looking for a gift. The big trotting races are held here on the farm in August.

For a day out, Aberystwyth is about a 30 minute drive. It's a university town on the sea. You can walk the promenade, visit the National Library, or get the cliff railway up Constitution Hill. The Vale of Rheidol Railway goes from there up to Devil's Bridge.

You're right on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains here. It's good walking country without being too extreme.

Facilities: It has pretty much everything. Washing machine, dishwasher, bedding and towels are included. There's bike storage, a BBQ, and parking right outside. We allow one well-behaved dog. There's also a games room in one of the other barns that all guests can use.

A couple of useful links if you're planning: Visit Mid Wales for general information and Forestry England (Dyfi Forest) for local walking trails.
