This is Awel Y Mynydd. It's a converted stone barn on our sheep farm near Pontrhydfendigaid. The name means Mountain Breeze. You do get a fair bit of that up here.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's done to a high standard. Everything is new and works properly. You get underfloor heating downstairs and a wood burner for the evenings. The bath is a big roll top one.
The views are the main thing. You look straight out over the fields to the Cambrian Mountains. It's very quiet. You'll see red kites. At night, if it's clear, the stars are incredible because there's no light pollution.
You're right on the farm, so you'll see sheep in the fields. Sometimes you hear them. The track up to the property is a farm track, so it's a bit bumpy but fine for normal cars.
There's a village shop and a couple of pubs in Pontrhydfendigaid, about three miles away. Tregaron is a bit further and has a bit more, including a good pub that does food. For a bigger shop, you'd go to Lampeter.
Strata Florida Abbey ruins are about a mile down the road. It's a special place. Cadw website for Strata Florida.
The area is good for walking. Cors Caron, the big bog nature reserve, is just down the valley. The boardwalks there let you get right out into it. Natural Resources Wales page for Cors Caron. The Cambrian Mountains are on the doorstep for more serious walks or mountain biking.
The coast is about a 40 minute drive. Aberystwyth has the promenade and university town stuff. New Quay and Aberaeron are nicer for a proper seaside feel, and you often see dolphins from New Quay harbour.
For facilities, you've got pretty much everything. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. There's bike storage if you bring them. You can bring one well-behaved dog. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside.
