The Pendre Longbarn

The Pendre Longbarn is in Cwmystwyth, up in the Ystwyth Valley. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's been done up to a high standard. It's a proper restored long barn, completely detached.

It's all on one level, which is good. Sleeps six across three bedrooms. Two bathrooms, plus an extra cloakroom. The master bedroom has a big en-suite with a freestanding bath and a walk-in shower. One of the bathrooms is a 'Jack and Jill' style between a bedroom and the hall. The twin room has an interesting ceiling with stars, and the other king room has fairy lights around the bed.

The main room is open plan: kitchen, dining, living area. Big bi-fold doors open onto a decked terrace. There's a firepit and a barbecue out there. The garden is large and looks out over the valley. You get red kites and buzzards overhead most days.

It's part of the Hafod Estate, which is Forestry Commission land. You can walk straight from the door. There are restored historic paths, streams, and waterfalls to find. The road in is an unmade stone track and it's unlit. It's fine in a normal car, just take it slow.

The nearest pub or restaurant is about four miles away. For a supermarket, you'd go to Aberystwyth, which is twelve miles. Some people get a grocery delivery sent ahead.

Devil's Bridge is nearby, and you can get the Vale of Rheidol steam train from there down to Aberystwyth. There's also the Silver Mountain Experience, which is an old lead mine. The coast is about a thirty minute drive. Aberystwyth has a beach and a promenade.

Facilities include all the basics: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's on-site parking and bike storage. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
