Penroc is in Cwmystwyth, near Aberystwyth. It's a stone cottage, about 200 years old. There are fields and trees all around and the views are really good, straight out over the hills.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom downstairs. It's got a 3 Star rating, which I think means it's comfortable and clean, but not brand new. There's a connecting door to the cottage next door, Ty Mari, if you need more space for a bigger group. You can book them together.
Downstairs is one big room with a slate floor and beams. The kitchen's at one end, the sitting area's at the other with an electric stove. The WiFi is fast, but the mobile signal inside isn't great. There's a landline for emergencies.
Upstairs, the main bedroom has a king-size bed and a private balcony you can sit out on. The second room has twin beds. The bathroom has a bath with a handheld shower attachment, but there isn't a separate shower cubicle. The stairs are the original cottage ones, so they're a bit steep and narrow.
Outside, there's a bit of garden shared with Ty Mari if it's booked, with a bench and a BBQ. You can park right there. The garden fence isn't dog-proof though, so if you bring pets you'd need to keep an eye on them.
For things to do, you're right in the middle of it. You can walk straight out from the door onto the trails. Visit Wales has a good guide to Ceredigion. The Llanbadarn Fawr forest is about twenty minutes away for easier walks. Aberystwyth is a twenty-five minute drive for the seafront, the castle ruins, and the cliff railway. If you like industrial history, the Llywernog Silver-Lead Mine is very close.
What's included: all the bedding and towels, the WiFi, parking, and the electricity. You can bring up to two dogs.
