Penroc is in Cwmystwyth. It's a stone cottage, about two hundred years old. It's one of a pair. You get the two-bedroom one.
It's got a three-star rating. It's clean and comfortable. The main room downstairs is open plan, with slate floors and beams. The kitchen area is fine. There's an electric stove that looks like a real fire. The windows have seats, which is nice for looking out.
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms. One has a king-size bed and opens onto a balcony. The view from there is good, over the valley. The other has twin beds. There's one bathroom with a bath. It has a handheld shower attachment, but there isn't a separate shower cubicle.
The mobile signal inside isn't great, but the Wi-Fi is fast. There's a landline for emergencies. We've left some books, DVDs, and board games.
You can bring up to two dogs. The garden fence isn't dog-proof though, so you'd need to keep an eye on them. There's parking outside.
If you need more space, there's a connecting door to the cottage next door, Ty Mari. You can book them together for a bigger group.
You're right in the Cambrian Mountains here. It's very quiet. For a day out, the Visit Ceredigion site has ideas. The National Trust has a few places like Llanerchaeron within about half an hour. Aberystwyth is about a 25-minute drive for the seafront and the usual town things.
