The Glen is a stone cottage in a place called Pont rhyd y groes. It's on the edge of the Hafod Estate, up in the Ystwyth Forest. It's detached, so no neighbours on either side. The road outside is quiet, it's really just for the few houses up here.
It sleeps four people. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, which is fair. It's clean and comfortable, not luxurious. Everything is on one level, which is good. There's a wood burner in the living room. It gets the place warm quickly.
You're here for the quiet and the walking. The forest is right there. You can walk for hours. The river Ystwyth is nearby, and there are some waterfalls. It's good for birdwatching. If you drive for about fifteen minutes, you get to Devil's Bridge Falls. You can walk down to see the waterfalls and the famous bridges.
Aberystwyth is about a twenty minute drive. It's a university town on the coast. There's a castle ruin, a pier, and the normal shops. The Cardigan Bay coastline is all along there. You might see dolphins from the shore if you're lucky.
For facilities: there's parking right outside. WiFi works, but it's not super fast because of the location. There's a dishwasher, a washing machine, and a highchair if you need one. You can bring two dogs. Bedding and towels are included.
The nearest shop and pub are in Ponterwyd, about three miles down the valley. The pub does food. For more information on the local area, the National Trust Hafod Estate page is useful.
