Felin Hedd means Peaceful Mill. It's an old threshing barn, about 200 years old, that we converted. It's on the outskirts of a small place called Stags Head, between Llanddewi Brefi and Tregaron in Ceredigion. Very rural.
It's a big building, so it sleeps eight comfortably. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and maintained. There's underfloor heating from a ground source heat pump, so it's always warm underfoot.
The main things are the space and the original features. The old cast-iron driving wheels and stone walls are still there. There are two living areas, a big vaulted dining space, and a games room. Two of the bedrooms have balconies. You can watch red kites from them. We're in a Dark Skies area, so the star viewing can be very good on a clear night.
Outside, there's a wooden hot tub cabin that opens onto the garden. There's a barbecue and picnic bench. The property sits in 17 acres. Five of those are woodland, bordered by the River Teifi. About 150 yards from the back door, down by the river, we've put another picnic bench and a firepit. It's a good spot. You'll often see herons, sometimes an otter or a kingfisher.
Inside, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, cot, highchair, stairgate. Bedding and towels are included. The whole place is wheelchair accessible on the ground floor. We accept up to two dogs. If you have a horse, there's a paddock you can use.
The local shop is about two miles away in Tregaron. The nearest pub is about a mile and a half. Tregaron has a good Red Kite feeding centre and is a centre for walks. The harbour towns of Aberaeron and Aberystwyth are about a 30 minute drive. Aberystwyth has a castle, the cliff railway, and the university arts centre. For a bigger day out, you can drive into the Cambrian Mountains or south to the National Trust beaches around Cardigan Bay. The Visit Wales site for Ceredigion has more ideas.
It's quiet. You're coming for the space, the river, and the views across to the hills.
