Felin Hedd (Peaceful Mill)

Felin Hedd is a converted threshing barn, about 200 years old. It's near Tregaron and Llanddewi Brefi in Ceredigion. It's very rural.

It sleeps eight people, in four bedrooms, with two bathrooms. It's detached. There's a lot of space inside, which you notice as soon as you walk in. The roof is very high. There are two living areas, a big dining area, and a games room.

It's on 17 acres of land, including some woodland. There's a river, the Teifi, bordering the land. Good for fishing. There's a paddock if you want to bring a horse.

There are two balconies on the first floor. You get good views of the hills from there. We get a lot of red kites and buzzards. This is a Dark Skies area too, so on a clear night you can see the stars really well.

About 150 yards from the house, by the river, there's a picnic bench and a firepit. It's peaceful. You sometimes see otters, herons, and kingfishers.

At the back of the house there is a hot tub in its own wooden building. There's also a patio with a table and chairs, and a barbecue.

Things to be aware of: It’s a big barn, so the spaces are large. The doors and stairs are fine, but as it's an old building, it's worth keeping an eye on small children on the balconies and near the river. The place is all on one level except for the bedrooms, which are upstairs.

The kitchen is modern and has a dishwasher. There's a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's on-site parking. We accept up to two dogs.

Tregaron, the nearest town, is about two miles away. It has shops and a pub. There's a Red Kite Centre there and they hold trotting races. Aberystwyth is about a 30 minute drive. You've got the castle ruins, the pier, the university, and the Vale of Rheidol narrow-gauge railway there. Aberaeron, the other way, is also about half an hour. It’s a nice harbour town with coloured houses.

For walking, you're right on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains. The Visit Wales Ceredigion page has good ideas, and the National Trust Dinefwr parkland is about 40 minutes south, near Llandeilo.
