Stone Acre Barn
Offering home from home comfort, the cottage is spacious and well-furnished. From the windows you can look out to Hadrian’s Wall and the famous Sycamore Gap. The welcoming farmhouse kitchen is the heart of the home with a large table and dresser making a lovely space for everyone to gather. It is well-equipped with full range of electrical appliances and a Tassimo coffee machine for your early morning coffee. Completing the ground floor is a double bedroom with a fully adapted wet room that may be suitable for wheelchair users. Upstairs a further double room and a family room with double and twin beds can be found, both with en-suite facilities. Outside, there is a lawned garden to enjoy, set with garden furniture making an ideal family space.
Stoneacre Barn is ideally placed for walkers and cyclists. The property is close to the Pennine Way and various bridleways and cycle routes passing rivers, forests and castles. Hadrian’s Cycleway and the Sandstone Way cycle route can both be found nearby. Visit the Roman forts along the World Heritage Site of nearby Hadrian’s Wall, including Housesteads and Vindolanda, or Chesters. The surrounding landscape is stunning, enjoy a walk to Sycamore Gap and see the most photographed, iconic tree from the film ’Robin Hood’. After a day of exploring, a 10-minute walk from the cottage will bring you to the Twice Brewed Inn at Bardon Mill serving locally sourced home-cooked meals and local ales. Nearby towns include Hexham, a popular, historic market town which boasts a stunning abbey, the oldest gaol in the country, and an abundance of shops, restaurants and pubs. In addition, why not visit the beautiful Roman town of Corbridge or its fort, browse its boutique shops, art galleries and antique shops, or take a stroll along the river. Also within easy reach is Haltwhistle, the ’Geographic Centre of Britain’, which has a sports centre and outdoor heated swimming pools, and Burn Gorge. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
