This is Oak Lodge in Bournemouth. It’s a bungalow, so all on one level, which is handy. Detached, so you won’t hear the neighbours. It’s on a normal residential street, not out in the countryside. The front doesn’t look like much, but the back garden is a good size and completely private. It gets the sun in the afternoon.
It sleeps four, two bedrooms, one bathroom with a shower. It’s got a 4 Star rating. That means it’s well-equipped and comfortable. Everything’s included – bedding, towels, WiFi. There’s a washing machine and a cot if you need it. Parking is right outside.
You can bring two dogs. The garden is fully enclosed so they can’t get out.
The sea is about three miles away. That’s Bournemouth beach and the pier. It’s a drive, not a walk. There’s a local shop and a couple of pubs about five minutes walk away. The better one is on the main road.
Right at the end of the street there’s a gate into a nature reserve. It’s 40 acres of woods and heath. Good for a dog walk without having to get in the car.
If you want to go out for the day, Bournemouth town centre has all the usual things – shops, an oceanarium, the gardens. The New Forest is about a 20 minute drive north. You’ll see the ponies. For a decent coastal walk, the Purbeck coast is maybe 40 minutes away, around Studland or Swanage.
