You're about a ten minute walk from Ashley Cross. That's where the bars and the independent restaurants are. Poole town centre and the quay are about twenty five minutes on foot.
For the beach, you'll need to drive or get the bus. Sandbanks and Bournemouth are about three miles. The bus stop is just down the road.
If you want to get out on the water, there are boat trips from Poole Quay. You can go over to Brownsea Island. The Purbeck Hills and the New Forest are both within half an hour by car.
