Solsken

Solsken is in a residential bit of Pokesdown, which is just up from the beach in Bournemouth. It's a ground floor annexe joined to our house. We're next door but you've got your own private entrance and patio. It's all on one level.

It's a 4 Star place, which means it's set up well for mobility. Doorways are wide, there's a walk-in shower with a seat, and the floors are level. It sleeps four, but really it's best as a couple's place or for one small family. There's one proper double bedroom and then a double sofa bed in the living area.

The beach is about a ten-minute walk downhill. You can go left along the prom to Bournemouth pier and the town, or right towards Boscombe pier and on to Hengistbury Head. The walk to Hengistbury Head is good. The beach is sand and shingle.

The main road through Pokesdown has shops, a few cafes, and takeaways. There's a train station about half a mile away for getting into Bournemouth centre or further out.

If you drive, the New Forest is about half an hour north. You can be in the middle of it quite quickly. Poole Harbour and Sandbanks are a short drive west. For organised days out, the National Trust at Hengistbury Head is close by, and the New Forest National Park Authority site has good information.

Facilities: there's parking for one car on the drive, an enclosed patio with a barbecue, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and highchair if you need them. The kitchen has the basics. No pets, sorry.
