Woodpecker Barn is in Sculthorpe, Norfolk. It's one of four barn conversions grouped around an old farmyard. The one you'd get is attached to two others, but you have your own entrance and it's completely separate inside. It's on a working farm, so you'll see the owner around sometimes and hear the usual farm noises.
It sleeps eight in four bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is useful. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and modern, but it's a barn so you get the beams and stone floors. It's all on one level, which is good for less mobile people or if you don't want stairs.
You get your own enclosed garden with a table and chairs. There's also a shared games room in the old function hall on site that you can use, you just need to ask the owner first to book a slot.
The village is quiet. There's a pub and a restaurant about half a mile away. The nearest shop is a mile off in Fakenham. Fakenham has a supermarket, some restaurants, a cinema and a bowling alley. It's about two miles away by car.
The north Norfolk coast is about eight miles away, so a 15-20 minute drive. Wells-next-the-Sea is the classic trip. It's got the long beach with the colourful beach huts, a nice harbour, and fish and chip shops. Burnham Market is nearby and is quite smart with independent shops. For a bigger, sandy beach try Brancaster.
If you like walking or cycling, you can start right from the barn. There's good birdwatching on the coast at the RSPB reserves like Titchwell Marsh. For a day out further afield, the Sandringham Estate is about half an hour's drive. Norwich or King's Lynn are both about 40 minutes in the car if you want a city for shopping or the theatre.
Facilities: it's got a wood burner, a washing machine, a dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
