Lorien Cottage

Lorien Cottage is a bungalow in Nethy Bridge. It sleeps nine, which is why we got it. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s a good size for a family group.

The living area is open plan with a wood burner. There’s a separate snug. That’s handy if kids want to watch something different on the telly. The main bathroom has a bath with a shower over it, and there’s a separate shower room.

You’re on the edge of the village. The garden is enclosed. We let two well-behaved dogs. There’s on-site parking.

Facilities wise: it’s all there. Washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, bedding and towels included. We’ve got a cot and highchair.

Nethy Bridge is quiet. There’s a shop and a couple of places to eat. You’re right in the Cairngorms National Park. The forest walks start from the door.

Aviemore is about a 15-minute drive. That’s where you’ll find the bigger shops, more restaurants, and the funicular railway up Cairngorm Mountain. Loch Insh is just outside Aviemore for watersports. The RSPB Loch Garten osprey watch is a few minutes up the road.

If you want to go further, Kingussie, Grantown-on-Spey, and the Loch Morlich beach are all within half an hour.
