On The Beach
This house is called On The Beach. It's in Balintore, which is on the Tain peninsula up in the Highlands. It's modern, detached, and it lives up to the name. It’s right on the seafront.
It sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and each one has its own bathroom, which is handy with a full house. The master bedroom is particularly big and has a dressing room. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's a step up in finish and space.
The main living room is upstairs on the first floor. That’s to get the view. There’s a balcony there too. You look straight out over the beach and the sea. People see dolphins and seals from there fairly often.
Downstairs there’s a separate dining room and a kitchen with all the appliances you’d need. The garden is enclosed, which is good for dogs or if you have kids.
Balintore and Shandwick next door are quiet. It's not a busy resort. There's a village shop, a pub, a café and a restaurant, all a few minutes' walk away. For a bigger supermarket, you go into Tain, which is about ten minutes by car.
The beach is sandy and starts right outside. You can walk for miles. If you want to explore, the North Coast 500 route passes nearby. For local history, the Historic Environment Scotland site has details on places like the nearby Shandwick Pictish Stone.
