The Haven is on a quiet little lane near the centre of Ludlow. It's a Georgian townhouse, so it's on four floors. That means quite a few stairs. They're original and a bit steep, but fine if you're steady on your feet.
It sleeps four. Two double bedrooms, both doubles, and two bathrooms. One's on the first floor with a bath, the other's an ensuite shower on the second floor. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well-finished and comfortable. We accept one well-behaved dog.
Downstairs at garden level there's the kitchen. It's a proper, functional room with doors out to the garden. Upstairs is the main living floor with the sitting room and dining area. There's an open fireplace. The garden is enclosed, gets the sun, and has a couple of terraces with a table and chairs.
You can walk to everything in Ludlow in a few minutes. The castle, the market, all the pubs and shops. The butchers and bakers here are very good. Whitcliffe Common is just over the river for a walk. For a longer hike, you've got the Mortimer Forest trails right on the edge of town.
It's a good base for seeing the rest of the Marches. Church Stretton and the Long Mynd are about a 20-minute drive. The Attingham Park estate is just over half an hour. Ironbridge and Stokesay Castle are within 45 minutes.
Included: all bedding and towels, WiFi, a washing machine, and dishwasher. There's a TV and a BBQ. The parking is on-street, but it's usually easy to find a space right outside.
