The Cottage is in Batchcott, just outside the village of Richards Castle. It's a detached stone cottage with a thatched roof. You can see it from the lane.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been modernised but you can feel the age of the place, which is nice. The stairs are the original ones from the 1600s. They're steep and a bit narrow, but they're solid.
There's a big garden at the back. It's got a patio, a lawn, and a summerhouse you can sit in. You get a lot of birds. There's parking for two cars on the gravel.
Inside, there's an inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove. The bread oven from the 1700s is still there in the chimney. The kitchen is open plan and has a dishwasher and washing machine. Bedding and towels are provided.
The shop is two miles away, the nearest pub is about two and a half. You'll need a car.
Ludlow is a fifteen minute drive. That's where you'll find the main shops, the castle, and lots of places to eat. The castle is English Heritage and they do events. The National Trust has a few properties nearby like Croft Castle.
For walking, you're on the edge of the Shropshire Hills. The Mortimer Trail starts in Ludlow and goes towards Wales. Clee Hill is about twenty minutes away and the views from the top are good on a clear day.
No pets, sorry.
