Acorn Cottage is on Welshman's Lane in Herefordshire. It's on the edge of Bircher Common. It's a detached cottage, but it's in the grounds of our house and small holding. You have your own private enclosed garden. It's very quiet here.
The cottage sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's old, from the 16th century, but it's been renovated. It's cosy. The stairs are a bit steep and the doorways are low in places, as you'd expect.
We leave a welcome pack for you with bread, butter, milk, orange juice, and some eggs from our hens. You're welcome to wander around our seven-acre grounds. The field with the sheep is off limits, but the rest is fine.
There's a shop and a pub about a mile and a half away in the village. Both are decent. For a bigger shop, you want Leominster or Ludlow. Leominster is about six miles. It has antique shops, the ones they use on TV sometimes. Ludlow is about eight miles the other way. It's good for food and has a castle.
If you like walking, you can go straight out onto Bircher Common from the gate. You can also drive to the National Trust's Berrington Hall, which is about fifteen minutes away. The Black and White villages trail is nice for a drive.
As for facilities: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. We allow up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed but you'd want to check for small gaps if your dog is a runner.
