Bryn Marian is in Blaenau Ffestiniog. It's a big, old slate mining town up in the hills. The cottage is right in the middle of it. It's a proper, solid old house.
It sleeps fourteen, which makes it good for big groups or families. There are six bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The kitchen is big and has what you need. The dining room table is long, so everyone can sit together. There's a woodburning stove in the living room, which is good for cooler evenings.
The garden is at the back. It's not huge, but it's a sunny spot and it's enclosed.
You're surrounded by mountains here. It's not a twee village, it's a real working town with a lot of history. The main attractions are the outdoor things. The Ffestiniog Railway station is very close. You can get the steam train down to Porthmadog from there. Zip World Slate Caverns is about a five minute drive up the road. It's in the old mines. If you're into mountain biking, Antur Stiniog is right on the doorstep.
If you drive for about half an hour, you can get to a few other places. Portmeirion is that Italian-looking village by the sea. Harlech Castle is on the coast, that's about a 25 minute drive. The beaches around Harlech and Barmouth are good, but they're about 40 minutes away. You're really here for the mountains. The Snowdonia National Park authority site has walking routes and other information.
Facilities: there's parking on site, wifi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can take up to three dogs. There's a highchair if you need one.
