Sian's Shepherds Hut is on a site called The Garrison at Bowness on Solway. It's basically a single big room on wheels, sleeps three, and it's got its own small bathroom. It's one of several huts on the old Roman fort site. They found a lot of Roman stuff when they built it. There's a small visitor centre on site with a model of the fort, if you're interested.
Because it's a shepherds hut, space is tight. It's fine for a couple or a small family, but there isn't a lot of room to spread out. You're really here for the location.
The site has a gym you can use and a good bistro. In Bowness village itself, a short walk away, there's a pub and a tearoom.
It's a very good spot if you're walking or cycling. You're right on the coast-to-coast path and on Hadrian's Cycleway. The whole area is part of the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
You can drive to Carlisle in about half an hour. The northern part of the Lake District National Park, like Keswick, is also within a 30-40 minute drive.
Facilities are what you'd expect: bedding and towels are included, there's TV and WiFi, and you have a patio area and parking right by the hut. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
