The Barn Owl is on North Plain Farm, near Bowness on Solway. It's a stone barn conversion, set back from a quiet lane. The views are open, over the fields and the Solway Firth towards Scotland. The sunsets can be really good from the front.
It sleeps seven people. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. One bedroom and a wet room are downstairs, which is fully wheelchair accessible. There's a ramp to the door and grab rails in the shower. The other three bedrooms are upstairs. Two are king size, one has bunks.
The main living space is open plan and quite big. There's a large TV on the wall. The kitchen is well equipped. Outside, there's a patio area with seating and a barbecue.
Bowness on Solway is right on the coast. It's quiet. You can walk to the start of the Hadrian's Wall Path from the cottage. The Solway Coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and there's a nature reserve next to the farm.
Carlisle is about a 15-minute drive for shops and the castle. The northern edge of the Lake District, like Keswick, is within half an hour. You can be in Scotland in about 20 minutes, over the border to Gretna.
For facilities: it's got WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. We provide a cot, highchair and stairgate if you need them.
