The Barn Owl

This is The Barn Owl, out near Bowness on Solway. It's an old stone barn, converted. End of a row, so you've only got neighbours on one side. The views are really open, out over the fields towards the Solway and Scotland. Sunsets are good.

It sleeps seven in four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms, which helps. It's got a 5 Star rating, so it's well kitted out and comfortable.

The main thing about it is the accessibility. The whole ground floor is wheelchair friendly. There's a bedroom and a wet room with a roll-in shower down here, and ramps to get in. The doorways are wide. If you need grab rails, they're fitted. It's not an afterthought, it's built in properly.

Upstairs are three more bedrooms. One has an en-suite, and there's a bunk room with its own toilet. The kitchen is big and open-plan with the living area. There's a huge TV on the wall.

Outside, there's a patio with seating and a barbecue. The garden is landscaped and flat, so it's accessible too. Parking is right there.

Location wise, it's quiet. You're in the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The sea is a short walk away. There's a nature reserve next door.

For days out, you're right by the end of Hadrian's Wall. Carlisle is about a 20 minute drive. The northern bits of the Lake District, like Keswick, are within half an hour. You can be in Scotland in about 15 minutes, if you fancy a trip to Gretna or beyond.

In terms of stuff here, it's all included. Bedding, towels, wifi. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, highchair and cot if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
