This is the Tiberius Claudius Augustus Germanicus Suite at The Garrison. It's a studio apartment that sleeps two, so it's just for a couple.
The Garrison is a holiday complex in Bowness on Solway. The site is an old Roman fort. They found a lot of stuff when they built the place, and there's a small visitors' centre with a model of the fort. You can buy Roman souvenirs.
The apartment has a 4 Star rating. It's open-plan, with one main room for sleeping and living. There's a walk-in shower. It's got a patio area outside.
On site, there's a gym you can use and a bistro that does good food. In the village, about 500 yards away, there's a tearoom and a pub that serves local ales and food.
The location is good for walks and cycling. It's on the Solway Coast, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cycle route 72, Hadrian's Cycleway, goes right through the village. The place is popular with people doing the coast-to-coast walk as a stopover.
You're about 500 yards from the beach here. It's a different sort of coast to the Lake District, very flat and wide with big skies, good for birdwatching.
For things to do within about half an hour's drive, you've got Carlisle and its castle. Gretna Green and the outlet village are just over the border in Scotland. Silloth is a short drive along the coast and has a good golf course. The northern part of the Lake District National Park, like Bassenthwaite, is about 30 minutes away. Keswick is about 55 minutes.
Facilities in the apartment include a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's on-site parking. A cot and highchair are available if you need them. No pets.
