Haaf Netters Rest

This place is Haaf Netters Rest. It's one of four studio apartments in a small complex on the Solway coast in Bowness. The site used to be a Roman fort, so there's a bit of history right under your feet. They found a lot of old stuff when they built it. There's a small visitor centre with a model of the fort.

The studio sleeps two. It's all on one level, which is handy. Everything's included, bedding, towels, that sort of thing. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's modern and accessible, with grab rails and a walk-in shower.

You're right on the coast here, on the edge of the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's very flat and open, great for birdwatching. The place is popular with people walking the coast to coast path or doing Hadrian's Cycleway, which runs right through.

There's a pub and a tearoom in the village, a few minutes' walk away. For a bigger choice, Silloth is a short drive along the coast. They've got cafes and a good golf course there.

On site, there's a bistro and a small gym you can use.

If you want to go further, Carlisle is about half an hour's drive. The Northern Lakes, like Keswick and the western fells, are within 30 to 40 minutes. For the Roman history, Hadrian's Wall is right on your doorstep. Southern Scotland and Gretna Green are also close.

You can bring one dog. There's parking on site. It's a good spot if you want a quiet base for walking or cycling without being right in the busy Lake District.
