This is Dandy Lodge. It's one of four studio apartments in a place called The Garrison, at Bowness on Solway. It's right by the sea, but it feels very quiet.
The apartment sleeps two, has one bedroom and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's modern, warm, and everything works. The shower is a walk-in type with grab rails. It's open plan, so the living space and kitchen are all in one room.
It's on the site of an old Roman fort. They found a lot of stuff when they built it. There's a small visitors' centre here with a model of how the fort used to look, and you can buy Roman souvenirs if you want. It's interesting, but you don't have to pay it any mind.
There's a shared gym on-site you can use. There's also a bistro that does good food. In Bowness itself, there's a pub and a tearoom within walking distance. Both are fine.
The place is popular with walkers and cyclists. The coast-to-coast path goes right past. Cycle route 72, Hadrian's Cycleway, is here too. The whole Solway Coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's very flat and good for birdwatching.
If you want to drive somewhere, you've got options. Carlisle is about half an hour away. You've got the castle and the town. The start of the Lake District National Park is also about thirty minutes' drive. Keswick is about an hour. The seaside town of Silloth is a short drive along the coast and has a famous golf course. There's also a swimming pool in Silloth.
Facilities: you've got a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome. The garden is a patio area.
