Guards Cottage is in Gleaston. It's a small, detached cottage that sleeps two.
Inside it's all open plan. There's a sofa, a wood burner, and a small kitchen area with a dishwasher. The bedroom is at one end, with a double bed and high ceilings with beams. There's one bathroom with a shower.
It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean without being posh. You've got your own patio and garden. Parking is right outside.
The village is quiet. Gleaston Water Mill is a five minute walk away. For a pub or a shop, you'll need to drive.
It's a good base for the South Lakes. You can drive to Coniston Water or Lake Windermere in about half an hour. The coast and places like Barrow-in-Furness are about the same. Walney Island has sandy beaches and seals.
