The Barn
The Barn is on a quiet lane in Hollywood End, near Marple Bridge. It's a converted stone barn, so it's quite solid. You can see the hills from here.
It sleeps four. That's two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms, plus there's a third shower room downstairs which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, which in this case means it's well finished. Underfloor heating downstairs, a wood burner for the colder nights.
The main room is open plan. Kitchen at one end, living area with the wood burner at the other. There's a patio outside, gets the afternoon sun.
It's on the edge of things. A five-minute drive gets you to Marple Bridge for a pub. The train station is in Marple, about ten minutes by car. From there, you can be in central Manchester in under half an hour if you fancy a change.
For walking and cycling, you're spoiled. The Middlewood Way is right nearby, which is good for a flat walk or a bike ride. The Peak District starts not far away. Peak District National Park has all the details for the bigger walks. Etherow Country Park and the Torrs in New Mills are both a short drive and worth a visit.
Facilities: it has what you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Parking for two cars on the drive. Secure storage for bikes.
