The Hayloft

The Hayloft is on our farm in Chunal, up on the hill between Glossop and Charlesworth. It's an old hayloft we converted, so it's on three floors. We live in the house next to it.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. Because it's an old building, the stairs are steep. You'll know about it if you've had a big day walking.

The main thing is the view. You look straight out over the fields towards Kinder Scout. It's a working farm, so you'll see the sheep and hear the tractors. If you're curious about farming, just ask. We're usually about.

You can bring two dogs. There's parking right outside. The Pennine Bridleway is at the end of our track, about a hundred yards away. It's perfect for walking or if you bring horses, we've got two stables you can use.

For supplies, Glossop is about ten minutes by car. It's a proper town with supermarkets, shops, and places to eat. It also has a train station if you want to go into Manchester. The village of Charlesworth is five minutes away and has a shop and a couple of pubs that do food.

Within half an hour you can drive to Edale, which is where the Pennine Way starts. Castleton is good for the caves and Mam Tor. Buxton is a bit further, maybe 25 minutes, for the opera house and the Pavilion Gardens.

Inside, it's got what you need. WiFi, TV, a shower, towels and bedding are included. There's a washing machine and space to store bikes.
