Shire Nook is a small cottage in Hurst Green, a village in the Ribble Valley. It's a mid-terrace cottage, quite traditional.
It sleeps three people. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. We have a 4 Star rating. The front door and the ground floor are accessible if you use a wheelchair, but the rest of the house isn't, so you'd need to check the details if that's important. The stairs inside are steep, typical for a cottage.
There are two pubs within a short walk, The Bayley Arms and The Shireburn. They both serve food. For a shop, you'd need to drive to Clitheroe.
The cottage looks out over fields and you can walk straight out into the countryside. Stonyhurst College is just around the corner. It's a big, impressive building. J.R.R. Tolkien spent some time there.
For days out, you're on the edge of the Forest of Bowland. It's good walking and cycling country. Gisburn Forest, which is popular with mountain bikers, is about a 20 minute drive. Clitheroe is ten minutes away by car. It has a castle and Holmes Mill, which has a long bar and a food hall.
Blackpool is roughly 40 minutes drive if you want the seaside. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is about half an hour to the north.
Facilities: there's a woodburning stove, a washing machine, a small patio area, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog.
