The Lodge is on the edge of Linlithgow. It's a detached bungalow on a working farm. You look out onto fields, but you’re only five minutes’ walk from the high street.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms. One has a super king bed. The other has two small single beds that can be zipped together into a king if you prefer. There’s one bathroom with a walk-in shower.
It’s a 4 Star place. That means it’s comfortable and well-equipped. Everything is on one level, which is useful. The entrance and doorways are wheelchair accessible.
There’s a wood burning stove in the living room. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. The garden is enclosed, so it’s safe for kids or a dog, but we don’t take pets. Sorry. There’s parking right outside, and a shed for bikes.
Linlithgow itself is good. Plenty of pubs and places to eat. The palace is the main thing. Linlithgow Palace is right there, by the loch. Good for a walk around.
You can get the train from Linlithgow station. It’s about 20 minutes into Edinburgh, or 30 to Glasgow. By car, you can be in central Edinburgh in half an hour if the traffic's alright.
For days out, the Falkirk Wheel is about 15 minutes’ drive. The Kelpies are there too. Stirling Castle is under half an hour away. For walking, the local country parks are Beecraigs or Muiravonside.
Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. The WiFi works.
