Alban

Alban is a new log house built in 2020, on the edge of Linlithgow. It's detached, so no shared walls. The main thing is the view from the living room and the upstairs balcony, out over fields towards the Trossachs. On a clear day you can see Ben Ledi.

It sleeps seven. There are three bedrooms. The master bedroom is upstairs and has doors onto that balcony. The other two are on the ground floor. The third bedroom has bunk beds and is separated by a curtain, so it's best for kids or adults who don't mind less privacy.

There are two bathrooms. One is a wet room on the ground floor, which is wheelchair accessible. The entrance and the living space are all on one level too, so it works if someone has mobility issues.

The living area is open plan. It's got a wood burner, a TV, and WiFi. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. All the bedding and towels are included.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking right outside.

Linlithgow itself is a couple of minutes drive. You've got the palace, some pubs, and the train station there. The coast is about five miles away at South Queensferry.

You're well placed for day trips. Edinburgh is 20 minutes on the train from Linlithgow. Stirling and Glasgow are about half an hour's drive. Falkirk is ten minutes away, where you've got the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel.

For local information, the National Trust for Scotland's page on Linlithgow Palace is useful, and Historic Environment Scotland has details on other sites like Stirling Castle.
