This is Ledi. It's a detached lodge on a small park just outside Linlithgow. You're in the countryside, surrounded by woodland, with fields in the distance. It's quiet.
The lodge sleeps four. There are two bedrooms, one double and one with two singles. It's got a 3 Star rating, which means everything is provided and in good working order, but it's not a luxury hotel.
It's all on one level. The main living area is open plan, with a kitchen at one end, and big windows looking out into the trees. The floor is heated in there so it's usually cosy. There's a decent sized deck outside those doors, with a table and chairs. You'll see birds and squirrels.
The shower room has a walk-in shower. There's a washing machine and a dishwasher. Heating and electricity are included, which takes the guesswork out of budgeting.
On the site there's a shared utility room with washing machines, and there's a small playhouse for children. There's parking right outside the lodge.
Linlithgow itself is a few minutes' drive. You've got the palace, a good high street with shops, and a loch for a walk. The beach at South Queensferry, with the bridges, is about five miles away.
If you're driving, you can be in Edinburgh city centre in under half an hour. Stirling Castle is about 25 minutes. The Kelpies are around 20 minutes away, and it's an easy drive into the southern parts of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
You can bring up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included.
If you're planning trips, these sites are useful: Historic Environment Scotland for the palaces, and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.
